Move Forward, Pita Limjaroenrat -

Pita Limjaroenrat has resigned from the position of leader of the "Move Forward" party.

According to information posted on Pita's Facebook page, the decision to resign was made in order to "prepare the ground" for a new leader who will take on the role of opposition leader.

Pita's parliamentary status was suspended pending a decision by the Constitutional Court regarding his case concerning ownership of media company shares.

Pita consulted with executive members of the party and parliamentarians, and collectively, they concluded that the role of opposition leader is crucial within the parliamentary system. This position is necessary for the party to effectively oversee the government and its enacted reforms.

The former prime ministerial candidate, whose party secured a majority in the May elections, also confirmed his intention to remain a member of the "Move Forward" party and announced a party-led rally in Bangkok on September 24th.
